Just catching up with your blog entries... that's a very strange story. Why was it okay to train with you, but not run the race? Not too logical! I trained with a friend from work (a guy) for the San Diego Marathon a few years ago. We would sometimes drive out to the Marin Headlands and do a long run - including driving time, it would take 4-5 hours. His wife had suspicions that he was having an affair - even though he would always come back covered in mud and sweat!

I had to drop the Napa Valley marathon this year - I got an awful virus 10 days before the race and couldn't kick it.

Wow... as a formerly single dad, I can sympathize with feeling left out and unnoticed... but holy hell, I would be really bent to end up being the sole competitor in a group that wanted me to train them in the first place.

Some folks.
