I love watching dads, in general, with their kids. Men often become caught up in work and bringing home the bread that there is little opportunity to see them fulfilling the active parent role. With a single dad, one sees this interaction first hand. It is much easier to appreciate the parenting skills of a father when they are on display for all to see.

In this area (DC) I see so many people prioritizing career over family (and even spouse) that it is wonderfully refreshing to see parents taking the time and giving the energy to be an active part of the lives of their kids. As a single parent, it is a hard balance, and I have seen many choose to put career first. It is nice to see the dads that find a balance or want to slow down to be with their kids.

Single dads are great.... but I do wonder how many men are seriously not put off by the single mom?
