No Milk in the Fridge, But There’s Beer

It’s spring break! No, we didn’t travel someplace exotic, we’re keeping things local this year. In fact, I might have forgotten all about the break from school except that my kids showed up at my house this morning rather than tonight.

Oops – my fridge is empty. A major problem with a teen in the house.

Oh, I knew they were coming, the calendar’s clearly marked. But my routine was thrown off and I didn’t plan ahead. They usually come to my house on Wednesday and Thursday nights (and go to their mom’s on Monday and Tuesday. We alternate weekends. It’s a GREAT way to share custody, btw.)

And I usually do my weekly grocery shopping on Wednesday during the day. Before they arrive.

So, my children are here and the fridge is basically empty. There’s a yogurt or two, a crust of bread, some apples, celery, parsley, an onion. And beer. (Guinness in cans with the little nitrogen ball that drops and makes it like draught…mmmm!) There isn’t even a bag of frozen peas, or I’d make my old stand-by, pasta with peas.

Gotta run to the store before lunchtime. What am I saying? Before snack time!

  1. What are you talking about? That sounds like a LOT of food.
