My favorite quote from the movie... or rather the one that had me laughing the most... was when he said (to excuse his running late)"I was doing a piece for (whatever magazine she was with)" That was funny! My 9 year old couldn't understand why all the adults were laughing at that one.
Great movie, I loved it!

Jaclyn - yes, go see it again!

Like you, I was a bit comic-book'd out before I saw it. Though I do like the new Batman Dark Knight movies. They have a darker tone, and Christian Bale is spot on perfect. I can't take another Spiderman!

Iron Man had some great one-liners, and Robert Downey Jr. delivered them to perfection. (I'm a sucker for quick throw-away lines. Loved Zoolander and Talladega Nights. Some lines flew by so fast, I was the only one in the theatre laughing. At least I didn't bray like a donkey)

I was a little comic-book-movie'd out when my boyfriend wanted to go see this, but we went. I was absolutely surprised by how witty it was, how much I was into the story. Unfortunately, some woman in the row in front of me kept laughing at every little funny moment like a braying donkey. I need to watch this again!

I think the PG-13 was probably appropriate. A 1st or 2nd grader would probably get the captivity and prisoner sequences in a general way, but wouldn't get all the details. The movie was pretty careful not to be graphic about anything - not the drinking, not the casual sex, not even the violence. It was entertaining on many levels - those watching for it would find the developing Pepper Potts - Tony Stark relationship pretty satisfying, while others would overlook anything happening at all. Obadiah Stain (what a character name!) was a bad guy, but the film wasn't graphic about his dirtiest deeds.

I worked at our local theater while Ironman showed. The audience got bigger the last couple of weeks, as adults and couples got the word it was an entertaining story.

I loved the "10% thruster" test, and the robot with the extinguisher. And the icky loose wire.

I wanted to see Ironman but I went to the theater on the night "cougars in the city" debuted so there was no frackin' place to park. I saw a band instead. Now I can't see it until it comes out on DVD...

I believe the movie is rated PG13, and that's appropriate. I remember while watching it thinking that 7 year olds shouldn't see it. I had no problem with my 12 year old son seeing it. A 9 or 10 year old? Hmm... A parent's guide is here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0371746/parentalguide

Shannon - Napolean Dynamite is awesome! I've seen it 4 times. We made my mom watch it with us once, and she didn't crack a smile the whole time. But then the next morning, she was cracking up thinking about it. She said, "that movie reminded me of you boys growing up." Now you all know what my high school days were like! (Ever notice everything in that movie gives a nod to 1982? The music, the time machine, the shirts and posters and clothes... )

I haven't seen the movie but I would guess it's NOT for kids. Your review confirms that for me.
