Great read… I guess this is why I have to dress my husband?

One thing I would like to point out is luxury is not only about high dollar fashion especially with all the eco friendly options availible today. Sometimes it is about comfort.

I have to agree with whatmenthink on this. Living in San Diego it seems as though a lot of people here go to great lengths to try to look like our neighbors to the north in Hollywood whether they can afford it or not. That’s what credit is for.

I don’t have a job in which I could afford those things, and even if I did I wouldn’t spend that kind of money. I do, however, take pride in how I look and I like to dress in a way that’s “me.” I shop at resale and quality discount stores at which you can find well-made clothes for cheap. In fact, that’s the fun part for me; finding something fantastic for nothing.

And, I could never be with a man who wanted me to look like anyone from LA.

Those tabloid pictures are not the norm. The tabloids take tons of pictures and publish the ones where the celebrities look the worst. I’m also talking about the non-celebrities that live and work in LA. Even remotely affluent people go to great lengths in order to have the newest luxury fashion goods. Fly out to Los Angeles and see how busy the Beverly Center or Rodeo Drive are during the weekday.

“High value women” Wow…
I am glad that, as a scientist and an outdoor enthusiast, I live in a world where a woman’s value and sexiness isn’t so tied up with wearing expensive clothes and accessories. To each his/her own. Dressing up is fun from time to time but I certainly don’t associate it with someone’s value or how much I like them. Different strokes for different folks.

I only meant that when they are just living their daily lives, they dress rather sloppily, in my opinion. When out to lunch or dinner, of course they dress up.

Then again, even their sloppy dress costs a fortune.

I agree that fashion is important. However, fashion doesn’t need luxury brands. I used to own a business that manufactured apparel and I can tell you that you can find high-quality products at a good price if you know what to look for. Luxury goods are over inflated in price and wasteful. Nothing wrong with being fashionable, but there is something wrong with becoming obsessed with luxury fashion goods.
