How funny--those secret service guards were ridiculously easy to spot. I had forgotten all about that. I was a graduate teaching assistant for one of Chelsea's classes and those guys were there, and also she and I were both taken as dates to a medical school dinner function once and there they were again.

I felt bad for Chelsea when she was a college student--it is a hard time of life to have everyone scrutinizing your every move. Stanford's a tough environment. She seems strong and graceful and so grown up now--it is nice to see!

You know how I knew for sure it was Chelsea in the bar? There were these mid-20s looking, clean cut, super fit guys dressed in brand new clothes that were meant to make them look like college students (except no college students dress like catalog models), standing with their backs to the wall, not drinking, surveying the room, keeping an eye on a blonde hottie at the bar (Chelsea).

Secret service, baby.

And PJ Momma, I didn't need to issue a restraining order against her, but thanks for asking.

George Clinton is seriously the coolest.

There was a supportive and moving Chelsea (who I spied in a Palo Alto bar when she was at Stanford in 2001) introducing her mother.

Has the restraining order been lifted yet?

Single Mom in NE - can you imagine this at the DNC?

T - funk-a-hell-a right!

Me Thinks - you know how at a rock show as soon as it starts, people around you toke up? Well at the George Clinton show, I swear as soon as it started they lit a bushel of pot on stage and turned on huge fanst to blow the smoke out into the audience. It was a wild crazy show - same thing with musicians walking on and off stage. It was mind blowing. Great music too.

The Exception - no pic! Here's the scene: Clinton and Gore spoke at the company where I worked. Only a select few employees were invited in to hear him (not me). A bunch of us stood outside in the rain waiting to shake his hand. Clinton and Gore come out and start shaking hands, and right before they get to me I get patted down by the Secret Service from behind (they were patting everyone down, it was weird). I shook Clinton and Gore's hand in a flash, no time to pose, and they were gone.

Of note: my daughter was just born and I was sporting a (new dad with no time to sleep, let alone shave) beard at the time.
