Skinny Dipping at Club Med
In a few weeks it will be November, and then we’re into the holiday season. For some divorced single parents with shared custody, when you don’t see the kids this can be a lonely time of year. A solo vacation can be a great escape. But who says you have to be alone?
There are plenty of group vacation adventure tours from Backroads, REI Adventures, and O Solo Mio. Or if you just want to hang out with other singles, play tennis, hit the beach, dance at night – Club Med isn’t a bad way to go.
I did a week vacation at Club Med in Turks and Caicos over New Years one year. It was a blast. I read, sunbathed, chatted with people from all walks of life. But the best part was meeting a Cuban woman on day one. Dark hair, olive skin, nice curves. (She’d look great in a micro bikini or body paint, like an SI Swimsuit model!) Apparently, I was the only guy man enough to approach her on the beach that first day. And get this, I did so because she was reading a book on spirituality that I’d read. (A killer approach!)
Yes, we woke up together all week. Club Med vacations can be like that. A shallow quickie fling, but just what I needed at the time.
The most memorable part of our “romance” was skinny dipping one night. We stumbled off the Club Med dance floor and took a walk down the beach. Starry sky, lapping waves, cool breeze, warm ocean. Neither one of us had skinny-dipped before, and we suddenly both knew we had to do it right then. We tore each others clothes off, then ran into the water together. We floated and touched and kissed. The starry night was amazing. Being present to that moment with her was surreal. Outside sex is always a rush.
So, if you’re looking for your own skinny dipping story, or you just want to sunbathe and read a book on vacation, give a look to Club Med. Maybe you’ll meet a hottie Cuban.

I nominate DH to organize the first annual single parents’ Club Med adventure!! Oh, if only the budget would allow such an indulgence!

There is nothing so sensual as being naked in the water, every single inch of your body, all at once, feeling the tingly touch of the water’s fingertips.

I just wrote about group trips myself! Club Med is like the adults version of Spring Break it sounds like. So where are you headed this year, DM?

I too was just thinking about taking a singles cruise to Alaska… Certainly not the same as two sweaty bodies on a sandy beach, under the moonlight, but picture cuddling up on the deck under a blanket, with the urgency to combine body heat for sheer survival. Anyone ever heard of “Room Service”?

There is nothing quite like being in the water together with the moon and the cool breezes and the night sky… *sigh* at least it sounds nice! The closest I have been to skinny dipping was a wood hut on the edge of a frozen lake in northern Sweden in January – we were all nude, so it kind of counts! ;)

I did a week long Club Med trip while in college (Cancun) and it was awesome…unfortunately, I had no game back then and I couldn’t approach or pick up women to save my life. I did meet a ton of interesting people from around the world, and you can definitely have these types of experiences at the resorts. Sounds like a blast!

Of course, make sure your Club Med isn’t in Dubai! That British couple was just found guilty http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/7673046.stm
Big Papa – I’ve heard some horny hookup stories from cruise ships. Alaska sounds great!
Mama Llama – yes, instant gratification is a wonderful thing. Where’s my towel and swimsuit? Er, I mean, where’s my towel!
Teri – agree completely with your first comment. The feel of water on your entire body is amazing. Hot tubs are fun, but the ocean where you can float and hear the waves is more amazing.
The Exception – naked in ice in Sweden? I don’t believe it. I demand to see pictures! (For evidence, of course)

It’s like pulling teeth to get the BF to skinny dip in our pool because he’s convinced the neighbors would spy on us. I’m like, a) no one’s watching our backyard through their binoculars, b) let’s do it at night, and c) I thought that’s why we got the house with the pool…?

Honey ~ I always tell my boyfriend… “Hey, if they are going to all that trouble to peek over and catch some cheap thrills, then they need and deserve them!”

A couple of years ago I went on a group ski trip for a weekend and didn’t know a soul. I was uncomfortable for maybe 5 minutes on the bus and then people started talking and I made some great friends on that trip. I figured the worst that could happen is I’d get some good skiing in. Never met anyone on any of those trips but that wasn’t really my focus. Next year I’ll take my girlfriend.
Club Med sounds like fun. It’s funny how every woman I know does “girls trips” whether they are single or not but guys in their 30s don’t seem to do many “guys trips” anywhere. Not like in college when you’d hit the road, grab a case of beer, and talk about women all night.

Honey – next time, you can go naked even if your boyfriend doesn’t. I’m with Teri on this. Give your neighbors a thrill!
SDMktg – I actually did some buddy wine tasting and golf trips, but we had a buddy in our destination city, so it wasn’t like we were getting a hotel together. Santa Barbara is GREAT for a weekend trip like that. Most importantly, there are actually single women there who enjoy being approached and chatted. Far different from Silicon Valley! (I know I harp on the dearth of women here. Census stats back me up – there are 17% more single men age 24-64 in the San Jose region. I’m guessing if you look at 30-somethings, that percent gap is even bigger)
I’ve also done tons of day trips to Napa, Sonoma, and the Santa Cruz mtns for wine tasting. Those are great ways to get out there and meet (though no skinny dipping is involved)

what a great picturesque post! I used to go skinny dipping all the time when I lived by the coast… I was 7 ;-)
I have only done it once as an adult, luckily I met a girl doing it too. In the whole ocean, I decide to skinny dip on the same patch of beach at night that someone else does!
