There is nothing like flirting during the holidays. It seems as if everyone is in a great mood and, well, it is just easy to do without it going anywhere – which might make it all the more fun and easy.

I am definitely doing my fair share of flirting!

We've always done the recipe on the back of the Libby's pumpkin can as well.

I do have to admit though - the first year I was married I volunteered to bring the pies. I never paid attention to how my mom did it - but she told me to just get the Libby's can. Well - it turns out that there are TWO different kinds of cans. There is one big can that is a pumpkin pie mix and all you have to do is basically pour it into the shell. I picked up this can and thought "Man this is gonna be easy!" But as cheap as I am - I realized that the smaller cans were on sale - so I just grabbed two of those. BUT those are pumpkin only - and you have to follow the recipe on the back. So I smoothed those two cans of straight pumpkin into the pie shells and couldn't figure out why no one would eat the pies - until I explained how I made them.

A mistake I have not repeated.

I made two Libby pies and they both turned out pretty well. I say pretty because I made the crust from scratch. Was a little thick but I'll know for next time! I just couldn't bring myself to make the filling and buy the shell. That's cheating. Either buy the whole thing or make it!

Sorry, DH - but you know how I am - nothing beats scratch - ever! Now I have no idea how I'd feel if I actually had an option of canned, but I just I'll find out when I get back, eh?

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Libby's pumpkin pies have been a tradition in my family since my childhood. I've always made 3 at Thanksgiving and Christmas, since the family loved them so much.
Imagine my surprise though when last year my 22 yr old made pumpkin pies with a DIFFERENT recipe!! I didn't say anything about it...but I could NOT understand how she loved my pies and chose a different recipe than Libby's. So odd!!
Happy eating!
