That Boy Has Chops
My son is quite the trumpet player – he’s a first trumpet in his middle school band!
Part of the reason I’m crowing is because I taught him a bit of what he knows. You see, back in the day, I was a trumpet player. And back in the day before that, my dad was a trumpet player, too.
There’s no getting around the fact that my son kicks ass as a trumpeter partly (mainly!) becaue of his old man!
Think the band director at parent/teacher conference was duly impressed?
Um… (if she was, it wouldn’t make for much of a blog post, now would it. Dad’s House readers should know that by now…)

Trumpet-Chia pet. Funny…I can’t follow your thought process! My kids actually asked for a Chia Pet for Christmas…go figure.

My son picked up the trombone this year, and this former band geek (flute — and I was good) couldn’t be happier! What’s even better, is he seems to really be enjoying it so far. My dream of being a Band Mom is so far coming to fruition!
