Old-Fashioned Cocktail Recipe
The Old-Fashioned cocktail sounds quite old fashioned. I mean, who on earth drinks these things anymore? Um… my brother and me. We had them over the holidays, and I must say, Old-Fashioned cocktails rock.
It’s bourbon with an amazing blend of bitter, sweet and sour flavors. I’ve seen more complicated recipes that muddle in the cherries or slice of orange, but this Dad’s House drink recipe is simple and delicious.
Old-Fashioned Cocktail Recipe
Drop a sugar cube in an old-fashioned glass (lowball glass)
Add a few dashes of Angustora bitters
Add a shot of soda water
Muddle the sugar and bitters together (you can use the backside of a spoon)
Add an ice cube or two
Add 2 shots of bourbon
Stir
Garnish with a bit of orange peel, lemon peel, and a maraschino cherry
Have one tonight!

This was my drink of choice in college (but we left out the sugar and used 7up instead of soda water) and I can’t drink them anymore. But they were good.

I use Jim Beam Black, which is aged 8 years Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, and mighty good.

Oops, we used brandy instead of bourbon, so it was a brandy old fashioned sweet. Apparently its the state drink of Wisconsin.

Just reading this recipe made my mouth pucker up. You’ll have to guess whether it’s a kiss pucker or a sour face pucker……not tellin’~ ;)

A great drink. I use Rye now instead of bourbon.

A great drink for a night out. Depending on what part of WI you live (Northeastern) i.e. Luxemburg brandy is the preferred. As I recall it was either Aristocrat for Christian Brothers. From experience bourbon is a poor choice.
