Spring Fever Sex, Love, Nature, and a Rockin’ Mini-Van
The Dad’s House Spring Fever contest has come to a close. Seventeen bloggers waxed poetic on the season of spring. Want spring fever diversity? It’s here! From catching a big ass fish, to high school love in the hallway, to a sex-charged mini-van in Target’s parking lot, to Colorado sunshine and snow – spring means something different to everyone.
Lest anyone forget, the last Dad’s House I Rocked the House Contest Winner was Honey, from Honey and Lance. Will she successfully defend her crown?
Here’s a spring feverish rundown of all the entries this time around. (The category names are mine – sorry if I missed):
First Dates and Birth Dates
Canadian Bald Guy, If you catch spring fever, do you need a shot? – an impromptu first date that was so spring feverish, it happened in his home before he did a speck of spring cleaning! Okay, he tidied up a little. But judging from the sweet kiss at the end of the post, his bachelor pad mess wasn’t a bad thing at all.
Blogging Mama Andrea, Young Love in the Nation’s Capital – a day-long first date between a nanny and a guy with a goutee, through Washington DC. Nothing like cherry blossoms in full bloom, greasy burgers, and a really good kiss to make a perfect first date!
Daily Momsense, Lost and Found – okay, this isn’t really a first date. But it starts with a first flirtation, and goes from there… I loved the ending!
Honey and Lance (Honey), Spring Chicken: Birthday Celebrations! – it’s her boyfriend’s birthday, and Honey’s looking for a unique gift. Tons of interesting food suggestions, some garlic tongue action, and hot morning sex, to boot!
Nature
I Pee in the Wind (TentCamper), Spring is in the Water – for TentCamper, spring means fishing season – being on a boat with a dozen guys, lines in the water, beer in hand… ah, sounds perfect to me. Be sure to check out the size of the sea bass he caught! (great pic)
Single Mom Says… (Mindy), Spring, Storms & Growth – a nice essay on spring sunshine, snow, and storms, and how they affect us. Like life’s healthy changes, spring is all about growth and renewal.
Self
The Naked Soul, Spring Is In the Air, Time to Clean House – Mark from Naked Soul gives a great reminder to clean your house of clutter, only the house isn’t what you think. Naked Soul is a journey of self-awareness.
Harassed Mom (Laura), Spring is in the Air - beautiful spring imagery set the stage as a metaphor for the hard work she’s been doing to plant new seeds and nurture change in her life.
Cathouse Teri, Sweet Cherry Wine – a reminder that spring is a time when we have to bare our pastey, jiggly bodies to the world, and we can do so without feeling judgment. We are fantastic creatures – just enjoy!
Melifera’s Musings, Spring fever and my brand-spanking new rose-colored glasses – from a friend’s pink-themed birthday party, to a hungover rumination about life’s disappointments and blessings, Melifera sends her spring fever shooting off in powerful new directions.
The Exception, Uncovering Spring Fashion – The Exception loves spring – being out in the sun, uncovering her body from winter clothes, sleeping with windows open. But where are the spring fashions that don’t make her feel slutty?
T’s Quest, Spring Cleaning and Coming Undone – T ruminates on doing some spring cleaning on her old patterns, and remembering to take care of herself first. She does some major introspection, with a musical nod to Duran Duran.
Love and Sex Action
Shelle-BlokThoughts, Death Defying, Heart Stopping, Adrenaline Pumping Action - spring break on the boulevard with rogue baseball players and roaming testosterone, and a boy called Trey who almost killed her on their way to Cafe Rio… enough comedy and action to make a girl swoon!
The Exception, Sexy Morning Wake-Up – a second entry from The Exception, full of image and intention
Vino Mom, High School Kiss – a teenage boyfriend and girlfriend walking together between High school classes. Nothing like teen romance for a great kiss.
Dad’s House (haha! I entered my own contest), Shirtless Runner – running shirtless through a nearby neighborhood, I hit on a gorgeous woman who is gardening, only to discover she’s not exactly available.
Krn, Twelve Springs Eve – a beautiful rumination about the hands of a former lover, a lover who turns out to be otherwise attached. Bittersweet, longing, mysterious. Wonderfully wrought.
I Date White (Eathan), Spring Fever ‘09 – whether it’s a booty call partner or an FWB, if this mini-van’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’! (btw – I had no idea Target’s parking lot was a better place to get it on than the parking lot at Walmart. Anyone with spring fever should take note!) Warning: mature subject matter. For adults only!
And the winners are…
Great competition! All the entries were good. Tough to pick my favorites, but pick I must. First, a special Honorable Mention for Canadian Bald Guy – Best Sucking Up to the Contest Organizer – for including a picture of me and my red hat in his post!
The three blog posts that win Amazon eGift cards (in no particular order):
Harassed Mom (Laura), Spring is in the Air – I loved her mix of nature and self. And the purple Jacaranda’s are an image I can’t forget. Well done.
I Date White (Eathan), Spring Fever ‘09 – talk about raising the heat on this contest big time! This one had me going from start to finish. (Warning: mature subject matter. For adults only!)
Daily Momsense (Janet), Lost and Found – from the first flirtation to the final line, this post captures lust, sex, relationships, and the true meaning of love.
Congratulations to the winners. And thanks to everyone who joined in for writing such great posts.
Happy Spring!

LOL
Hey…any chance of getting a badge saying “I SUCKED UP TO THE HOUSE” or something like that? I’d feel guilty asking for a normal badge.
Heh.
But…ummm…I’d love to have a blog badge. :-P
Oh…and congrats to the winners!

Canadian Bald Guy – you have a great sense of humor! I love it.
Honey – haven’t you been wearing the winner’s tiara for the past six months?
fyi, I based the judging on two criteria: how did I feel after the piece? Which pieces had imagery that stuck with me? Believe me, many of the pieces scored very well on these accounts. But the three that won had something that particularly struck me. It’s all just opinion. I’m no Simon Cowell!
Okay, where is happy hour today?

Uh-huh, you’re Randy for sure, Dad’s! ;)
And a little Paula, too. Thanks for your kind words on my submission.
Hmmm, randy and submission? Good thing I have a date this weekend. My mind is so there.
Hope you have a great weekend, Dad’s. Mine started out fun thanks to your contest and getting to read all of the great entries. Congrats to the winners!

Oh, I blew it big time! Krn’s piece was a comment on the contest post, and I left if off the recap above. A huge oversight on my part! I apologize. I was reading posts and putting the recap together till 1am last night, and when I went through the comment section, I was looking for URLs. Did I leave off anyone else? Let me know, and I will remedy.
Krn’s post is now part of the recap above, and listed here: Twelve Springs Eve

I’m doing my Tiger Woods fist pump. Thanks so much. Now the pressure is on to repeat for next year.
FYI.. my mini-van participant is a reader of my site… she’s now wanting to try other locations. Who knew IDW would be better than a dating site. ;)

I had a bad feeling after I read the Spring Fever 09, and I finally figured out why a few hours later. I am bothered by the fact that that essay won the award when it glorified a guy’s “losing it” so much that he did not listen to the woman’s request to tell him before he came but instead pulled her head in–even as she struggled. And is that really the big lie that guys subscribe to–they say they will do something but instead ignore the woman’s request to tell her before they come? It sounds like no one has a problem with that disrespect. If I were in that position, and some guy acted that way, I would feel completely violated and angry. I’m disappointed in your choice of that blog, David–particularly because now so many people will read it. Yuck.

Hi Shirley – I understand your point and discomfort with that post. That’s part of the reason I labeled the post as being adult content and mature subject matter. I chose it as one of the winners not because of any glorification of a guy “losing it”, but because the writing built tension from start to finish. I also found the bits about Target and Walmart quite humorous.
As for the ending, the male in question didn’t lie. He didn’t promise to do anything. He stayed silent. Granted, he pulled her into him later on, and that went against her request. At the same time, it’s a natural reflex in such a situation. He was stimulated by her to a point of no thought. I have to assume she knew most men stop thinking at the point of release.
When I’ve been in those circumstances, women assure me they know when to pull back, if pulling back is their desire. Female commentators on that post agree with that notion. The post described two willing parties, and either one of them could have stopped at any point, and said “I’m not comfortable going further.”
All that said, you make a good point that the author could have listened to the woman’s request and honored it, perhaps by stopping the act before things went too far. Thanks for weighing in. I appreciate your perspective.

I agree with Shirley. Yes it said adult content, but I felt the same way she did. I read all the entries, and wow I can’t believe krn didn’t win!! I loved it. Beautiful writing.

Awww, I came back to comment again and saw so many kind words. Thank you, kmn. That’s very kind. That story is not my usual, for sure.
When I first read Eathan’s story, I felt the way you (kmn) and Shirley did about it. Since my brother was over, I had him read a few stories while he was waiting for me to get ready to go someplace. He loved Eathan’s story and assured me that this happens– even to the most respectful, kind, feminist gentlemen, which he happens to be. We both agreed that T and Eathan’s stories back to back were “oh my” naughty reading. I bet he had his wife read them later that night for a little inspiration. I Wonder how many click click clicks there have been on all of the stories!
