When You Can’t Coach

Trumpeter Freddie HubbardI’m a man who loves sports. And dads who love sports tend to want their kids to love sports, too. What better way to share that passion than coaching youth sports like soccer?

Unless you suck at the sport you’re trying to coach.

(I’m into cycling and distance running, and AYSO and Little League aren’t exactly kid versions of the Tour de France or Boston Marathon.)

What’s a hot dad to do when he can’t coach, but still wants to be cool? Find out by reading my post over at the Hot Dads blog:

When You Can’t Coach

As for that picture of Freddie Hubbard playing trumpet…  ? Um… totally random. It has nothing to do with not coaching. It’s just a cool photo. I mean, this post needs some coolness to offset the hotness. Don’t you think?

Enjoy the post – When You Can’t Coach.

  1. I commented over there but here’s what I said:
I think it’s great you and your son share something like this. I think he’s digging it because you ARE a cool dad. That whole “my dad’s my hero” stuff. I’m sure it’s true even if he would scoff at admitting so.
I hope my kids will get my love of reading and writing. I’m not good at photography, painting or playing an instrument (I love listening to music though!)
I hope you will continue to have this bond as he gets older. It’s something that can really serve him well, the discipline to play an instrument is not easy. And then he gets to be cool like his dad. Double bonus.

  3. That’s cool that you made a point of sharing your passion with your son. It’s so important. And so HOT!

  4. I thought it was . . . when you can’t do, coach . . . when you can’t coach, become a TV commentator.

  5. I recall you saying that on my blog post about taking the N-Man’s to the kid’s symphony day. His current musical obsession is the trumpet and the cello. I’m not sure which I’d rather have to listen to him learn to play. :-? LOL

I think it’s fantastic that you and your son have that to share.
