Celebrity Backyard Barbeque

grilling hamburgersI usually throw an awesome barbeque to kick off the summer season. But with the down economy, my neighbors and friends aren’t as perky as usual. Sure, some grilling could be the pick-me-up they need. But with all the financial fretting we’re doing, I worry our lives have become too normal, too mundane.

We need an injection of celeb-reality.

Skip on over to the Silicon Valley Moms Blog today where Dad’s House takes a humorous look at America’s obsession with the latest reality stars. All from the point of view of inviting some folks over to grill. Here’s the link:

Then come on back and have a cocktail. This year’s barbeque might suck, but my Mai Tai recipe kicks ass.

  1. It all sounds yummy. One of the downsides of city living (at least in my particular apartment) is lack of access to a real, live grill.

  2. I especially liked following the links to “Celebrities and Their Cocktails” having just visited Hemingway’s grave…

  4. Well, our meat intake is limited to fish, though we do have a nice grill and do that sometimes. I believe we’re going to try crab sometime in the next couple of weeks.

But I made homemade Pad Thai last night and it was AWESOME!

  7. Sounds like fun, but yeah, maybe more fun if the mood is right. For some reason, I thought Silicon Valley would be less affected by the economic downturn than many other areas have been.

Hope you have a hot & wonderful summer, even if the economy is not so hot at the moment!

  8. I agree, we all need a drink!

  9. Krn – Silicon Valley is a very expensive place to live. People are losing jobs. I have friends and neighbors very distraught about their mortgage and career, and these are well educated professionals in seemingly solid careers.

Katherine – I love that link from the Hemingway mojito post to “Great American Writers and Their Cocktails”!! Maybe someday NPR will do a piece on “Bloggers and Their Cocktails”. Ha!

btw – JustMe left a comment over on the SVMoms post, and she totally got the reason I wrote the post…
