WE had fmaily TV - but I have to admit that we still do family TV - it is all a matter of skipping the technology and just enjoying time together as it happens.

we too watched certain shows together as a family. I remember watching wonderful world of Disney on Sunday evenings as the weekend was settling down. and on Saturday mornings one of my favorite shows was battle of the network stars. Which I think I heard is coming back this fall. Oh yes and Wide world of sports...
But alas no Tivo in this house

We have a few DVR boxes in our house, one of them we dedicate to the kids shows and another we dedicate to shows that we can watch together as a family, we have another one that I use specifically for the shows I like.

The kids LOVE when it's time for us to sit down and watch something together as a family, it becomes an event just like I remember it being when I was a kid. It is also one of my favorite times of the day as well.

In today's day and age there are so many traditions that are just gone, and they have vanished in a very short period of time. I am starting to wonder if people will actually speak to each other in 20 years or if everything will be text and computer related.

Hey David this is my first time here, I like the site I have added your RSS feed and followed you on twitter.

We didn't have that tradition either as I was growing up. That is because TV was not allowed in our house.

Tivo is out, it's so 10 years ago, it's all about Comcast DVR now.

We don't have a DVR so we can still spend one night a week watching shows as a family. We also like to watch movies or spend some time playing games or reading.

So, get rid of Tivo!!! Just kidding! However, I will admit that we don't have Tivo or DVR at our house. If you wanna watch it, you better have your butt on the couch when it starts. That being said, I do know how you feel about the non-existant family TV night. The problem in my house is the age gap between kiddos. My tween (I'm so much more mature than you) daughter and my 4-year old son have a hard time agreeing on a show that they both enjoy. I also miss the old reading nights we had. Mom, Dad and us kids would pick a book and each take turns reading aloud for several nights til we finished it. One of my favorites was Shepherd of the Hills. I loved hearing everybody attempt to talk like Uncle Ike.
