Best Margarita Recipe
My favorite Mexican restaurant has a margarita list two pages long. Different tequilas, different mixers, and one outcome – a kick ass cocktail. Over the years I’ve sampled enough of their margaritas to hone in on the best margarita recipe. And with my birthday just around the corner, you can bet I’ll be sipping a few margaritas on the rocks (salted rim) before the candles are blown out.
The secret to the best margarita recipe is using quality ingredients. For me, this means Herradura Anejo tequila, Cointreau, and fresh squeezed limes. Here’s my recipe for the best margarita:
Best Margarita Recipe
1 ½ shots Herradura Anejo Tequila
1 shot Cointreau
1 fresh squeezed lime
Pour ingredients into a martini shaker with ice. Shake sharply. Serve this best margarita recipe on the rocks in a glass with a salted rim. (Or, blended, unsalted, whatever your preference.)
You can use a lesser tequila, or substitute triple sec for Cointreau, and you’ll be making one of the other drinks from my favorite Mexican restaurant’s menu. For the best margarita recipe, choice ingredients are key.
Olé !!

Hmmm.. We’re having Mexican for lunch.. Wonder if corporate policy can be extended from two to three drinks at lunch? Salted, please! :)

I LOVE margaritas! And like you I’ve found the better quality ingredients; the better the marg. We can’t always have that though and there are a zillion ways to make a pretty good one on the cheap.
So when’s the b-day? ;)

MmMmmm. Looks like a great margarita recipe. Thanks! I don’t do shots anymore, but if I did, your tequila choice would work very nicely. Ole’ right back at ya’.
Happy Birthday, Dad’s. Does this mean you’re a virgo then? That might explain why you’re so dang cute. Uh, I mean sooo craaazily hot, of course. At least in your pics, you are.
Anyone want to make bets on what Dad’s is wishing for this year? I’ll bet one of these margaritas it has something to do with finding a smart, sexy woman to love and be loved back by. Make mine with salt, please.

I’m a Leo, hear me roar.
Birthday wishes… hmmm… I’m actually not putting extra birthday dream thoughts into a woman this year. Did that last year with mixed results. That particular four part story starts here: http://dadshouseblog.com/2008/08/25/woman-of-my-dreams-manifested/ (there are links at the bottom of that post pointing to the other three parts)
A birthday night of drinking the best margarita recipe (in healthy moderation) will suffice.

Yes, I was interviewed by CNN this morning. Gotta love the “bumbling oaf” money quote! Not to mention, anyone following the CNN link will find this margarita recipe. Love it!

A coworker of mine makes margaritas by dumping a can of frozen limeade concentrate into a blender, adding a canful of tequila (most definitely NOT the good stuff) and a canful of…..are you ready for this?????
Beer. She claims this makes the drink smooth and frothy.
It’s THE most nasty *ss drink I’ve ever tasted.

I just sampled this margarita recipe … perfection!
A lot of triple sec is about 15-20% alcohol (30-40 proof), but Cointreau is 40% (80 proof) — so for pure booze factor it really makes a big difference to use the Cointreau.

Hi I’m a fairly newcomer to your blog. But you have definitely been placed in my “fave” list of my google reader!
I was just talking about margaritas today. Sounds like a good one! I prefer mine on the rocks too. Can’t help but wonder which Mexican restaurant it is of which you speak… Please elaborate!

Just back from Mexico. Your margarita recipe is the best one. Two guys at the airport advised me to buy the Herradura tequila anejo — they were taking 6 bottles to their Spanish friends.
And I definitely vote for Cointreau instead of Controy (!), it’s Mexican copy.

One suggestion: add one shot of Limoncello (a fairly inexpensive type of lemon liqueur that isn’t sour but has lots of big citrus flavor) to your mix and you will be on the money. I have two beautiful lime trees and nothing can take the place of fresh lime…
