Why I Cook
I love to cook. I enjoy sharing recipes. No, this doesn’t make me unmanly. Many of the world’s best chefs are men. Plus, some women find it sexy when a man knows his way around the kitchen.
Partly, I cook out of necessity – I’m a single dad. Who the hell else will cook for me?
Still, some don’t understand my infatuation with preparing food.

You might even learn a recipe or two.
Happy eating!

Excellent post, Dad’s. I love the part quoted below, but I would. ;)
Third, it’s a grounding experience. (This part gets touchy-feely, I suppose. I’m in NorCal, baby!) I feel connected to the earth, and to the farmers and suppliers, and to my kids who I cook for. It feels good to create a meal for them. It’s nurturing. I get this feeling whether I’m grilling salmon at the BBQ, or cooking chicken and dumplings at the stove.
Guess I need to add nurturing cook to my future mate wish list. Hmmmm, wonder if there are any sexy single Italian dads around these parts?

The farmer t-shirt reads: “I farm, you eat,”
The cook shirt should say, “I cook, you eat.”
Cooking for sissies?
And do these nonsissy noncookers eat?
Yeah, thought so.

If you can read, you can cook. Doesn’t make you a chef but I don’t know why people must such a fuss about cooking. I love a man who can cook but don’t know if I’d really want to share that side of the island with my husband all the time. Ocassionally I’d enjoy being cooked FOR though. I’m gonna check out your cooking blog….can always learn something new.

Its fabulous when a man can cook and is willing to try out new things in the kitchen…lol. So many men these days can’t even boil an egg!

Good thing I’m raising sons who cook. Well – one who cooks, the other who makes sandwiches. With a writer-mother (who loses 6 to 8-hour chunks without noticing, while at the laptop), this is not only a convenience, a future-boon-to-friends-wives, but a matter of survival.
Fortunately, elder teen son made me a turkey sandwich at 5pm, while I was still poking over a pump post in French. (Don’t ask.)
Men who cook are AWESOME. Parents who raise sons to cook are smart. Men who APPRECIATE a woman who cooks (eat heartily, help where they can, then ravage said woman for dessert) are equally awesome.
See guys? Lots of opportunities there…
