I agree in principle with diet, exercise, SLEEP, and cocktails… I’d add (safe) sex & laughter to the mix. However, unfortunately, even if healthy, for women, carrying your own health insurance skyrockets with each year over 45. Even shopping around. And all in all, I’d rather be in Philadelphia.

On an “up” note – I’m looking into a new career direction – with a small bit of provided… coverage. (And actually have been doing some amusing reading on reports from Europe regarding beneficial aspects of wine consumption – more on that tomorrow.)

Amen to exercise, a healthy diet, moderation, balance and relaxation. That’s a very good foundation for a high quality life. Since I’ve also noticed that you care for your emotional, spiritual and psychological self as you do your physical self, it seems wise for you to spend your health care dollars on major medical coverage. It’s not a good choice for everyone, but for proactive, healthy individuals like you and like minded folks with no significant family history of chronic illness, it seems a reasonable way to go in these times. Encouraging people to take responsibility for their own health, as you do, is one cornerstone of a much needed shift toward prevention. Kudos to you for setting a good example and blogging about your choices.

P.S. I couldn’t help but notice that you’ve mentioned condom use in the past, so an extra smile goes your way today for also having promoted safe sex practices, too. Way to go, DH.
