Single Parent Dating is Tougher than a High School Crush
High school crushes can be difficult for teens to navigate.
I know, because I have a teen daughter who is dating right now. Plus, I was a dating teen myself, back in the stone age. (I actually had a long term girlfriend back in high school. No hit it and quit it dating for me!)
Well, as hard as it can be to figure out relationships in high school, I think it’s even harder for single parents out on the dating scene.
Head over to the Silicon Valley Moms Blog for a cage match of epic proportions, pitting the complications of Single Parent dating against the sheer bliss of a High School crush.

Then come back and meet me on the quad after class.
Oh, and don’t bring a chaperone.

I am about to become a part of this world again. I am not looking forward to it really. So I think I will just skip the dating and find a FWB instead. :)
See, if I was in HS, that wouldn’t be OK!

Great post over at SV Moms! And you’re right! Plenty more opportunities and support system when you’re dating in High School, even though single parent dating has as many heartbreaks and disconnects. Your post did make me wonder about that In-n-Out Burger locale. Probably a good thing you don’t take your dates there. Unless it’s a third date.
Still, I thought I’d offer you a hand in the kitchen. No offense, but boiled beets & chard have no sex appeal. (Your cocktails, however, make up for that.)
If you need a few impress-a-date (or kids) recipes, I’ve got two for 20 in 20 in fact. They’re fast (20 minutes), inexpensive ($20 or less), healthy, delish, and there are usually leftovers! (Pop over to my daily plate of crazy and you’ll even see pics.) Sure to impress a date, at any stage in your amorous adventures.

Wow is that ever true!!!
But I do know that I feel much more confident now than I did in high school. I’ll take my chances now, thankyouverymuch.

I read the blog post, and I can’t say anything because I am not a parent AND I never dated in high school. I was that sheltered and did not have a clue.

Ms. Big,
How about a direct link to your recipes :-)
Even though beets & chard dont have sex appeal, they are good recipes for family dinners. Some of us need all the tips & tricks we can get :-)

Jason – I added a link for BigLittleWolf’s recipes into her comment (at her request). Click on the phrase “two for 20 in 20″.
I agree, recipe sharing is a good thing – especially for the basics! I certainly don’t eat gourmet every night, but I do cook.

Yeah, it certainly was easier back then. But, dating was pretty superficial most of the time then, too. My recent dates haven’t led to romance or love for me either, but there has been plenty of interesting, engaging conversation. That being said, I haven’t tried online dating or Craig’s place.
BigLittleWolf’s recipes sound perfect for the coming weekend. Thanks BLW, and for the link, Dad’s! For family nights, the boiled beets and chard are staying on our menu. Mmmm.
