Do You Spoon Naked?
When you hit that magical night for third-date sex (or a sooner night, later night, whenever night; who’s counting?) – and you’re spooning all night with a new partner – do you wear pajamas? Sleep in your skivvies?
Or do you do it commando style and spoon naked?
I know my answer. And one woman I slept with was surprised at my choice.
On the one hand, if you’re laying all night with someone special, shouldn’t you enjoy a bit of contact, skin to skin?
On the other hand, if you’re sleeping, you’re sleeping. You don’t need bits and parts flailing about. On a cold night, you want to keep warm. Plus, some people like a feeling of softness, or a naughty look, in whatever they wear to bed.
Today at Dad’s House, I figured I’d open things up to readers and find out who spoons naked, and who prefers their partner stays buttoned up. I’m curious if there’s a generational difference, or if men and women have a different approach.
As for my preference? I didn’t give that away in this post. Feel free to guess.

I go to bed in just my panties but i love the feeling of my man’s skin up against mine. It also makes for a great time if the need arises in the middle of the night. Nothing better than being woken up to your man caressing your naked body.

I’d stay naked! However, if I need to get up at some point later in the night I will usually put my cami and panties back on then. But even when I do they somehow end up back on the floor a few hours later! :)

I think if you’re spooning, naked is nice, but if I’m going to sleep then I prefer my jammies. It’s just easier if kids need me in the middle of the night or whatever.

Spooning? Dear god, it’s been so long, I’m not sure I remember! ;) Given the choice? Naked. However, given the propensity of my kiddos for wandering into my room at night (sometimes while still asleep), I usually ended up in an oversized t-shirt and panties. Locked doors weren’t an option due to the lack of central heat and air. Fireplaces only warm rooms with doors open.. :)

Well, I’ve been spooning with my guy for 10-plus years, but generally, we *prefer* nekkid.
Caveat: With young kids, I’ve gotten into the habit of sleeping with minimal clothes on, because I know I’ll be up in the middle of the night (usually more than once) to take care of them, put them back to bed, etc.

I’ve been sleeping naked for years…I get too tangled up in clothes to feel comfortable at night. Jake slept in boxers when we met but I converted him :-)

My man always puts on his boxerbriefs, but he is trying to be appropriate for when my nine year old comes in to snug and watch scooby doo and our puppy in bed in the morning. It is really cute to see a grown 6′2″ man spoon me, then kiddo, then puppy gets in too. His arms stretch across all of us they are so long!

When I am getting to know the person, I like to keep my pjs on. I mean, it’s just spooning. And my pjs are comfy and a little easy access, and it creates anticipation. It’s a slow build up.
But of course if we’ve just gotten down and dirty I prefer skin to skin, obviously.

It seems strange that you would get naked to make love like crazed weasels and then put clothes back ON?!?!? They just get in the way for any decent spooning, forking, hugging, whatever.
Whether or not kids are involved, it’s probably a good idea to have clothes handy to slip into, should you have to dash from the bedroom to tend to some issue.

Reader comments are making me feel totally normal. This particular dating relation thought it strange I liked spooning buck naked. She wore a jammy top and panties. I think North Americans as much more conservative than Europeans and others in the world.
I have a partner from outside the continent and he couldn’t imagine sleeping as a couple with any clothes one. It was easy to get used to!!!
