Single Dad Dating Advice for his Teens
As a single dad on the dating scene, I can totally relate to my teens as they date. I know full well that romantic relations can be equal parts madness and bliss.
What’s an old guy like me to do with all that dating wisdom? Impart it to my kids, of course!
Head over to the Silicon Valley Moms Blog where I write an open letter to my teens about dating. Don’t worry, it’s chalk full of humor. I take this dating-wisdom impartation business with a shot of whiskey and a grain of salt.

Yeah, but… are you sharing THIRD DATE RULES with them, or tweaking? And I don’t necessarily mean “those” rules… What about Great Dates one and two, followed by the Houdini act?

Good advice…….
My parents never gave me dating advice, as I really wasn’t allowed to date at all. So after college I had no insight, and I was just thrown into the dating world as an innocent, sheltered woman. The only things my parents usually told me was to use protection and not get pregnant (if I could even get out of the house). They were scared I would become another statistic. Yet they couldn’t guide me, because well, you know how I was raised.
I was pretty much thrown to the wolves in the dating world when I got to college, and I learned a lot the hard way. I wish I had someone that had been there to guide me a little. Your kids are lucky, and I know that sounds cheesy and I usually like to bust your balls or make sarcastic remarks here, but I really mean that.

I like the don’t go to parties and the don’t send dirty text messages rules. I had a friend, seriously — it wasn’t me, who sent a bunch of raunchy text messages to his girl-friend (he’s divorced) and that girlfriend (who I’m not sure she knew she was a girlfriend) turned around and let everybody she knew and he knew about it. Really embarrassing for him but funny as hell for everyone else.
