Cool Parent Points

boy thumbs upCool Parent points.

If you’re a parent, you know what those are.

You earn them when your kids don’t think you’re a nerd, geek, or life-ruining jerk.

i.e., you do something cool.

Seems a few parents in the parenting blogosphere have been scoring cool parent points lately, moi included.

Put on your sunglasses and look way cool as you head over to the Silicon Valley Moms Blog and read about:

(If that pre-programmed link doesn’t work, you can head straight to SV Moms.)

How cool is that?

  1. Geesh. You set the bar high. I’ll never get Mother of the Year if I have to keep in competition with the rest of you. The best I have to offer? Cookie Party. We’re not even in the same ball park. The pressure!

  2. You know you’re one of the cool parents when you step over teen bodies sleeping on the floor… often… with the other parents’ permission. (If only they didn’t eat so much!)

  6. I don’t recall my kids ever telling me I was cool or not cool when they were growing up. They just really constantly told me they loved me and that I was beautiful. (I’m not kidding. I felt like Cinderella every day coming down the stairs, with the unified “ooooooh, mom you look so pretty!”) I also don’t remember caring whether or not I was a cool mom. That was the furthest thing from my mind. I had no interest in being the cool mom. Just wanted to be the mom. But if you ask my kids now what they think, they say I am the coolest parent alive. God help us. :)

  7. I think I have a ways to go before I will be able to score any popint with my daughter and I am going to be in my mid to late 50’s when she is in HS. I hope I can still be cool.

  8. Cool points can come so easy when you are willing to stretch yourself a bit. I’ve been racking up the major cool points with my two when I decided to become the Dungeon Master for a night so my son could have the ultimate Dungeons and Dragons birthday party. A LOT of reading and 7 hrs of battling monsters, I was annointed the best DM EVER! Now we have a monthly D&D night, where the house fills up with 10 and 11 yo kids ready for battle!

Of course it makes for a pretty good flirty line too.
