Tequila Sunrise Recipe
Ah, the Tequila Sunrise. It’s a beautiful cocktail and a tasty drink. And way more fun than the Eagles song of the same name.
Sorry all you Glen Frey fans! I know there’s at least 5,000 of you who watched the youtube video for Tequila Sunrise. Of course, 24,000,000 watched a still image of Ke$ha as she sang Tik Tok, but she only has a Jack Daniels reference in her song, and nothing about Tequila Sunrise. (Both videos are below!)
Back to tequila!
The tequila sunrise is a savory blend of orange juice, tequila, and a splash of grenadine. Here’s how to make a tequila sunrise cocktail.
Tequila Sunrise Recipe
1 ¾ oz. tequila
5 ½ oz. orange juice
1-2 dashes of grenadine
(That’s about a 3:1 ratio of orange juice to tequila)
Pour the orange juice and tequila in a highball glass. Stir. Splash in some grenadine so it slowly drops through the drink, creating a colorful effect that looks like a sunrise.
You can garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Serve with a straw.

Getting a cocktail recipe this morning seems perfect after the huge mess I made out of life yesterday. (Yes, she’s done it AGAIN, folks.) So, I can pick up the ingredients, come home and ‘unwind.’
So, still a 3:1 ratio if I put it in an IV instead of a highball glass?

I need a good, stiff drink right now after the drive into work! It’s currently snowing and we’ve already got 3 inches of snow. The roads are horrible, and I had a very unhappy 3 yr old in the back seat screaming the entire trip to daycare. Normally, it takes us 25 mins to get from our house to daycare. It took almost an hour and then it took me almost 30 mins to get to work from daycare. UGH!

That definitely looks like a warm weather drink! I’ll have to stow this recipe for when it warms up a little here in the (brrrr) land of well-below-freezing temps. (Any hot toddy recipes?)

Too cold here for Tequila Sunrises.. But it does remind one of warmer days!!

Sandra – Ke$ha rocks! The first time I heard this song, I was in my car, and I totally cranked it up! I was jumping in my seat. It makes you move.
I admit, I normally listen to alt rock, but we were on vacation and I was exploring new radio stations. Glad I did.
