Where Are My Teen Kids?
As a divorced dad, my kids are with me half of each week, plus every-other weekend.
This past weekend I had custody of them.
And I barely saw them.
Where did my teen kids go?
Head over to the Hot Dads Blog and enjoy some alone time as one parent asks:

Maybe then you’ll understand why I blog cocktail recipes. Anyone for a mai tai, margarita, manhattan, or gin martini?

This is all too true, whatever the parental-unit-arrangements. They disappear. Except for when you need to drive them. Or feed them. Mine are trained to do their own laundry. We gather around the dryer. It’s nice catching a glimpse every now and then.

You made me so sad. Suddenly I saw my bleak bleak future. *Gulp* I’m not ready! I want more time!

Even with a “cool” parent, teens want to be with their friends…but also want the stability and the knowledge that the parents is there for them…..if need be.

I’m very familiar with how this works, especially when my daughter comes home from college. I only see her when she gets up in the morning!

thankfully we haven’t gotten to this point “yet”. lure them in with extra cheesy pizza and video games that’ll trick them into maybe having a conversation with you :)

Your kids sound wonderful !
You really should have had the couch sex, though.
Speaking of which, I heard my new roommate get it on. Awkward !

The only way I see my teen is to encourage her to have friends over, then its pizza and wii games and I try to make myself scarce. At least we are in the same house!

It seems you have lost a little hair over all this… c’mon it is not so bad.
Your kids are busy but as you stated- they want to be there for dinner with the family!
They love you, they love being with you, but they have their own lives.
I too am living this.
