Dad’s House

Dating & Parenting by a Single Dad

David Mott, Author of Dad’s House

David Mott is a Bay Area single dad with half-time custody of his two children. When he’s not writing, parenting, dating, and blogging, what does he do? Here’s his story…

David Mott writer, blogger, divorced single dad, single father
Once upon a time, I was a successful Silicon Valley engineer who spent way too much time thinking about data structures and algorithms and shiny brass patent plaques.

I quit my job and became a novelist. (At 25 cents a glass you have to sell a lot of fresh squeezed orange juice to live in the Bay Area. Either that, or consult.)

David Mott writer, blogger, single dad, single father, runner
I was already a runner and marathoner.

With a big fan club!

When running took its toll on my knees, I took up cycling.

David Mott writer, blogger, single dad, single father, sailing
Friends got me into sailing, where my primary crew duties include fetching beers and choosing music. (Trust me, I’m good.)

We’re often out on the San Francisco Bay.

And we’ve sailed the British Virgin Islands (and drank way too many Bushwackers.)

My kids and I like to go car camping.

I like alternative rock, stuff like:

And I love to read! Checkout my reading list at GoodReads. And add me as a friend.

I’m a big fan of Italian Serie A soccer, especially AS Roma, Juventus, and AC Milan. (The team in the light blue kit is clearly Napoli.)

Can’t forget my roots (or those of my kids – they’re half Italian. Io parlo un po.):
