I’ll be honest – I’m not totally sold on online dating as a way to find a long-term romantic partner. While it’s a great way to meet random strangers for coffee, drinks, dinner, or booty, it’s an odd way to enter a committed relationship. Internet dating is nearly a billion dollar industry, and with so much money to be made, most advice about it is to update your profile and try again, i.e. keep paying that service fee. Psychologists have shown that chemistry is felt in-person by your whole body, rather than articulated by your mind ahead of time in checkboxes and essays. All in all, online dating can be frustrating at times.
Still, it’s a convenient tool for meeting people. To get the most out of online dating, it’s best to keep your expectations in perspective. You can’t help but meet new people, experience new things, and grow and evolve as a person. With the right frame of mind, it’s great to give online dating a try.
I confess I’m an online dating expert, with stories to prove it:

- Texting for Chemistry – Confessions of a Serial Online Dater, part 2 – trying to meet SingleAttorneyMom
